Aunt Mary's 95th Celebration

On Sunday, April 22 we had a grand celebration to acknowledge Aunt Mary's birth date (April 25th) and surrounded her with close family from Toronto and her friends at Amica (her retirement home).

Cousin Linda was hostess and planned a great meal including perogies that Aunt Mary loved, along with the special birthday cake of Tiramisu.

Aunt Mary is my Uncle Roy's wife and is the last family member of her generation with still with us.

As a child, I always remembered a very beautiful and loving woman, and she certainly has continued her thoughtful ways into her golden years.

Ocean's Hockey Hair is Gone!

Ocean has been growing his hair since last summer and quite proud of his "hockey hair".  Recently, both Nana's - Linda & Beverly have been suggesting he get a "trim" to provide a bit of a shape to his long locks.

So...in preparation to visit Great-Great Aunt Mary for her 95th Birthday Celebration (tomorrow), Ocean agreed to get Dean from Lid Lounge (our favourite hair guy) to give him a trim.

Here are photos of before and after.  He's still quite happy that he has longer hair to still hang out of his hockey/baseball helmets.

After - with a bit of styling gel - love those curls!

Biking at Harbourfront

Lindsay & I have booked 2 Fat Tire Tours in Paris - 1 for Monet's Gardens and the other for Versailles.  Since we haven't been on bikes, in like forever -- we decided we better do some bike conditioning.  It's started with renting Bixi bikes, which we did this morning.  I have to report we biked along Harbourfront East, went to Sugar Beach and then back toward Cherry Beach.  All without incident and we could actual walk after our ride!  I am also concentrating on doing at least 10,000 steps each day so that I can manage all the walking that Paris requires.

Back to the Paris plans, we received confirmation from our Paris Greeter, Christophe who will meet Lindsay & I with his family, including young 4 yrs old Lucas to give us an in-depth tour of Marais on May 6th for a couple of hours.  We are really looking forward to learning so much about our "home away from home" and this volunteer organization seemed to work for us.  After the tour, you can make a donation and we also plan to share some Canadian children's books with Lucas.

I'll keep this short today, just wanted to share our biking experience.  I'd recommend this way of renting bikes at a reasonable cost.  And I am still in the learning mode on blogging and using the camera.  I will have lots of learning experiences and I hope you can enjoy them with me.

First Post

As a first time blogger I wanted to create a space where I could share with my family and friends my adventures in Paris with Lindsay.  Here's my attempt to capture the history, the food and the beauty of Paris in the Springtime!  I hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we are.
